The importance of expertise in injectables.

Training and expertise. 

Your injectable treatments should always be performed by a board-certified physician with extensive experience and training. A dermatologist or plastic surgeon that is properly trained to perform injectable treatments will be best equipped to manage any complications that may arise. Complications are rare, but when they occur you want to be in the hands of a physician with an extensive understanding of your skin and facial anatomy. 

Partnership.

Because injectable treatments require regular maintenance and follow-up appointments, finding a practitioner you’re comfortable with and who will be available to you long-term is extremely important. Consider who owns the practice—now with large companies buying up individual practices, the same physician may not be at the practice for each of your visits. Having your treatments consistently performed by the same person allows them to tailor, observe, and adjust your treatment plan as needed. Forging this kind of partnership with your practitioner helps to ensure optimal outcomes. 

Environment. 

As with any medical procedure, environment matters. Ideally, injectable treatments should be performed in a medically-controlled environment to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, training, and patient care, all of which translate to a higher standard of safety. 

Artistic perspective. 

Last—but certainly not least—it’s so important to ensure the physician you choose produces beautiful results that you love. Ask to see before and after photos of real patients, and speak to them about their treatment style and aesthetic. What’s right for one patient may not be for another, and that’s OK!
